Meet Emily

Hi! I'm Emily. You may know me simply as "Doug's daughter." I'm the second-generation owner of FBD Fence. Having seen every aspect of the business growing up, I know that my dad didn't just build fences, he built lasting relationships throughout our community. I'm excited to continue building those connections while bringing my own energy to every fence project.

About Emily

Emily has been part of the FBD family her entire life, growing up alongside the business her father built from the ground up. From tagging along on estimates as a child to managing the company's digital presence and supporting operations as an adult, she has been involved in every aspect of FBD's evolution.

Following her father's approach of bringing diverse professional experience to the business, Emily holds a Master of Social Work and Master of Education, with a specialization in relationship therapy, as well as experience in legal compliance work. She spent several years building her career in Philadelphia before returning home to Howard County. She is now a licensed MHIC contractor in her own right (MHIC License 164549) and is committed to upholding the same standards of quality, transparency, and customer service that made FBD a trusted name in the community.

Emily's diverse background brings valuable communication and problem-solving skills to every customer interaction. She works closely with the same experienced crews her father relied on and maintains the personal, hands-on approach that customers have come to expect.

When she's not working on fence projects or meeting with customers, Emily enjoys staying active with Peloton, practicing self-care, and spending time with her cat, Céline.

Emily’s Approach to FBD

  • Yes! I'm a licensed MHIC contractor in my own right, not just because I inherited the business. I had to meet MHIC qualifications and pass an exam like every other contractor.

I'm fully bonded and insured, with insurance certificates available upon request. My individual and company licenses are listed here:

    Emily: MHIC #164549
    FBD: MHIC #164787
